Family on Film at Home in Tucson

Lauren and Jeff are past wedding clients of mine. It was an honor to reconnect with them now that they’ve welcomed a daughter into their lives. We spent a sunny morning together at their home chasing their toddler around and playing with sidewalk chalk and poppy flowers in their front yard.

I used a mix of film as well as a sprinkle of digital imagery to capture our time together. If you’re interested in working together for a session like this, I highly recommend thinking about honest things you do around your home to document the current season of your life. What is your typical Saturday morning like? Do you have a favorite spot in your neighborhood that you always order pizza from? Is there a park you always go to with your kids? Those everyday, ordinary things you do are the memories that become cherished with your family. I know this first hand from having my own daughter and seeing her grow up so quickly.

Bottom line, family photos shouldn’t be perfect or posed. That is not real life! If anything, we will waste time trying to get your children to “pose” for photos. When working with families on film, I prefer for your children to lead our time together. Going with the flow and stopping for snacks and diaper changes is part of daily life anyways. Why not capture that honestly? Bottom line, film sessions are time capsules. We’re working together to capture the magic of you and your family honestly. I hope you enjoyed this sweet session at home!
